A WDT tool with a magnetic holder
This WDT tool breaks up clumps in your ground coffee before you tamp, so the puck is more even. The magnetic holder sticks to your machine or any metal surface nearby, so the tool stays within reach and off the counter.
Why use a WDT tool
- Breaks up clumps in freshly ground coffee
- Spreads the grounds more evenly in the basket
- Can help reduce channelling, where water finds gaps in the puck and runs through unevenly
- Magnetic holder keeps it tidy beside the machine
How to use it
Dose your coffee into the portafilter, then stir through the grounds with the needles, working from the edges to the centre. Tamp as normal. It takes about 10 seconds.
Pairs well with
Our spring-loaded tamper is the next step in that routine. A dosing cup, a portafilter holder and a knock box make a tidy puck-prep routine.
Delivery
This item ships directly from our supplier, not from the roastery. If you order it with coffee, it will arrive in a separate parcel and may arrive on a different day.
FAQ:
What is a WDT tool?
WDT stands for Weiss Distribution Technique. It uses fine needles to stir and distribute coffee grounds in the basket before tamping.
Will it work with my machine?
Yes. A WDT tool isn't tied to a basket size, so it suits any portafilter, including the 51mm, 54mm and 58mm baskets our tampers fit.
Where does the magnet attach?
Anywhere magnetic, such as the side of a stainless steel machine or a metal shelf. Not every machine has a magnetic surface, so check yours with a fridge magnet first.
